Grilled Romaine Salad

Salad on the grill? Why not! Everything that hits the flame benefits from a little char to bring out flavor and add new character. It’s simple, like summertime meal preps should be, and a real crowd pleaser. All this substantial salad needs is a grilled protein and to create a full meal.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium high.

  2. Whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and crushed red pepper in a large bowl. Add radicchio and romaine, tossing to coat evenly. Let set for 20 minutes.
  3. Remove lettuce from bowl, reserving olive oil mixture. Sprinkle lettuces with salt and pepper.
  4. Place, cut side down on grill grate and grill until edges are crisped and slightly charred, about 6 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a serving platter, grilled side up, and drizzle with reserved marinade, sprinkle with cheese and serve immediately.

Note: While The Olive Scene’s Grapefruit White Balsamic is our number one choice for this salad, we also like our Traditional 18-year Aged Balsamic Vinegar, Sicilian Lemon or Black Mission Fig Balsamic. When we’re feeling spicy, we reach for our Jalapeno White Balsamic.
